Wild Colour & Pattern Mordant Printing Workshop

2 day workshop 26th/27th September

Join me to learn how to mordant print & create patterned fabric with a wide range of foraged seasonal plant dyes.

Forage for natural dyes on the South Downs & make your own patterned cloth using this wonderful natural technique. You will learn how to identify seasonal dye plants that are growing on these beautiful chalk uplands, make up a wide range of dye baths and use mordants & after baths to create a wonderful range of patterns & colours.

The aim of this workshop is to give you the confidence to work seasonally, locally & sustainably and to learn more about the ancient art of ‘chinz’ fabric printing and dyeing. You will come away with a Seasonal Dye & Recipe Book as well as the knowledge to create your own patterned fabrics in harmony with nature.

I’m running only one workshop in my home studio this year on the 26th & 27th September – when autumn colours are at their fruitiest. You will have the chance to explore the fields, hedgerows & woods of this lovely part of Sussex. All materials are provided as well as a simple veggie lunch. I keep student numbers low – there is only ever 4 students on this workshop.

Ps Here’s what previous students have said about this workshop:

I came away feeling like I had learnt something completely new & worthwhile
