This is a 2 day workshop running on Monday 18th & 25th March between 10am – 2pm. This workshop takes place in our own studio workshop, near Steyning on the South Downs and will be led by my partner Alice Garner.
In the first session you will learn how to make your own book cloth with your chosen fabric, tissue and wheat paste. We will then use excess paste to make paste paper, a quick & fun method of making decorative paper used by bookbinders for centuries. The book cloth and paper will be perfect for bookbinding projects including the following week’s session.
In the second session you will make a hardback A5 concertina sketchbook using book cloth from the previous week’s workshop. This is a simple and satisfying book construction that owes it’s origins to the most ancient form of book.
The cost is £120 for both sessions and all materials are provided.
Numbers are limited to 4 people – we do hope you can join us.
